About

The Le Gâvre campsite lies beside the Gâvre pond, on the edge of the large Gâvre state forest, in the north of Loire-Atlantique. Martine and Alain run it. The pitches take tents, caravans and motorhomes in a wooded setting, with a boules pitch. A small fisherman’s house is a reminder that the pond is a fishing spot. The campsite’s guinguette serves galettes, sausage galettes, crêpes and mussels and chips. The reception chalet is open from 10 am to 1 pm and from 6 pm to 7.30 pm. The Gâvre forest, more than 4,000 hectares of oak and beech, can be explored on foot, by bike or on horseback. The Plessé karting track is close by, and La Baule is an hour away. Nearby, you can visit the Château de la Groulaie in Blain, about 11 minutes by car (6.5 km), and the Abbaretz slag heap, about 25 minutes by car (19 km).
