About
The Château de Goulaine occupies an ancient site east of Nantes, on the edge of the marshes. The Goulaine family has been linked to the estate for centuries, and the current house mainly reflects the changes of the late Middle Ages and the early Renaissance. The facades, dormer windows, residential volumes and interior decor show the gradual shift from fortress to country house. The visit also places the château in the setting of the Goulaine marshes. The tour combines architecture, furnished rooms, family history and exhibitions. Some seasons also feature events and activities for families. The 2026 public season ran from 4 April to 12 September, with a reopening for the European Heritage Days. Outside these dates, the château is only open to groups, by booking.
