About
In Rennes, YOKO brings Julien Lemarié’s Japanese-inspired world into a more relaxed format than his restaurant IMA, mixing local produce, sesame and Japanese condiments. YOKO shares the address at 20 boulevard de la Tour-d’Auvergne with IMA, but it is a separate restaurant with its own booking. The project grew out of chef Julien Lemarié’s world, while IMA offers a different, gastronomic pace. At lunchtime, the menu features Japanese-inspired dishes such as okonomiyaki. In the evening, the plates become more contemporary, pairing regional produce with Asian condiments: past creations have combined John Dory, cauliflower and shichimi, or guinea fowl and shiitake mushrooms. These examples show the style without guaranteeing a dish. A relaxed atmosphere and an accessible lunch menu set YOKO apart from IMA’s tasting menu. For drinks, a wine from the Nantes vineyards, a cider, a local beer or an alcohol-free drink may suit the plates better than a standard selection. The restaurant is within walking distance of the station, Les Champs Libres and the old centre of Rennes.
