About
Outside the ramparts of Guérande, the Porte-Calon manor shows another side of the town. The old building, once linked to the Ursuline nuns, surrounds a courtyard whose terrace is a pleasant escape. The restaurant is close enough to the historic centre to be the gourmet stop of a day devoted to Guérande’s heritage. Marie and Hugo Charcolin have given their house a tone that combines precise cooking and a simple welcome. Come for a fine dinner for two, a gathering of friends or a family meal. The main dining room seats about fifty, and three private rooms can host groups. The chef relies on regional produce while making room for seasonings and techniques from elsewhere: dashi broth, soba, yuzu or more traditional dishes have featured on the menus. There is a lunch set menu, a menu and several tasting menus of increasing length: Faubourg, Esquisse and Artistes.
