About
In Carquefou, the Auberge du Vieux Gachet is one of those places that offer a real breather close to the city. Between the Chantrerie park and the Château de la Gacherie, the old farmhouse stands by the Erdre and opens onto the river landscape. The renovation created a panoramic dining room and a terrace looking over the water, while the stone and fireplace recall the building’s past. Walter and Françoise Lescot have run the house since 1990, attached to the great foundations of French cooking in the spirit of Auguste Escoffier. Sole meunière, slow-cooked dishes, jus and sauces all have their place. Regional suppliers are showcased and the cooking follows the seasons. The place suits very different occasions: a romantic meal by the river, a quiet business lunch, a big family table or a celebration. A walk on the banks of the Erdre or in the nearby park naturally extends the meal.
