About
The GCU campsite stands on Avenue des Bleuets in Pornichet, in Loire-Atlantique, less than 500 metres from the sea and the great bay of La Baule. It belongs to the Groupement des Campeurs Universitaires, an association founded in 1937 that runs nearly 90 campsites in France. Here there are no customers but members: everyone helps with upkeep, organisation and life on site. The site has about 77 pitches, with electricity, water, waste disposal, free Wi-Fi, a playground and a meeting room. Non-members can stay, at a slightly higher rate than members. The spirit is one of simple, friendly, non-commercial holidays close to nature. Workshops, such as mosaics, are offered some weeks in summer. By the sea, Sainte-Marguerite beach, in Pornichet, is about 900 m away, and Monsieur Hulot beach about 6 minutes by car (3.5 km). Nearby, you can visit the Ville-ès-Martin lighthouse in Saint-Nazaire, about 13 minutes by car (7.5 km), and the Kerlédé lighthouse in Saint-Nazaire, about 13 minutes by car (7.7 km).
