About

The Château de Dinan was built in the late 14th century for Duke John IV of Brittany. More than a simple keep, it is a real tower palace combining the display of power, residential life, defence and domestic service. The current route makes the different functions of the rooms easy to read, thanks to contemporary furniture inspired by medieval forms. Experimental archaeology completes this approach with objects made using ancient techniques. You move upwards through the tower, room by room, before discovering the upper passages and the link with the ramparts. The visit gives a concrete picture of the hierarchy of spaces in a princely residence. From 1 October to December 2026, the château is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm. Full price is €8.
