About
The Pointe du Raz is one of the best-known natural sites in Brittany. Awarded the Grand Site de France label in 2004, the area protects a landscape of heathland, cliffs and open sea at the tip of the Cap Sizun. From the paths, the view takes in the Raz de Sein strait, La Vieille lighthouse, the La Plate turret and, when visibility is good, the Île de Sein. The site has a visitor centre (Maison de Site), toilets and a large car park, which is paid for part of the year.

Tips on the spot
- Avoid the middle of the day in high summer if you want a quiet visit; coming early avoids much of the crowd.
- Allow enough time so you do not stay only near the car park.
- To photograph La Vieille, use an optical zoom or a telephoto lens; a wide angle is useful for the scale of the headland.
- Strictly respect the barriers and paths, and in strong wind keep even further from the edge.
- Check prices and opening times of the visitor centre before you go.

- Check the local weather on the day; in fog or very poor visibility, postpone if the view is your main aim.
- Bring a windproof and waterproof layer: the wind makes it feel much colder than the forecast.
- Wear shoes with good grip; after heavy rain, some sections are muddy or slippery.
- With children, be especially careful near the cliffs and exposed areas.
- Do not count on toilets at the viewpoint itself.
- For sunset, plan your walk back after dark and bring a small torch.
- Do not light fires or stoves in the heathland, and take all your litter home.
- Do not fly a drone without checking the rules, and do not disturb the seabirds.
- With reduced mobility or a pushchair, confirm the last metres of the route and the surface, and use the stabilised paths.
