About
Le Faouët, in the Goëlo, takes its name from the Breton word “faou”, a place planted with beech trees. Legend has it that these trees once covered the whole parish. Another legend tells that Saint Hervé, the blind patron saint of the parish, threw a granite ball from the summit of Menez Bré. It is said to have landed on the other side of the Poul Jaudour valley, where a spring gushed out, reputed to ease eye complaints. The trail has two shorter options, of 9.3 and 10.8 km. The loop is 12.6 km long, with 193 m of ascent; allow about 3 h 05 of walking. The stated level is medium. Start: Place de l’Église, in Le Faouët. The waymarking is yellow. The official route, published by the Côtes-d’Armor département and updated on 11 September 2026, is shown on the map and can be downloaded as a GPX file to follow on your phone.
