About
L’Étoile du Roy is a replica of a privateer frigate built in 1745, in the golden age of privateering, Saint-Malo’s signature activity. In 1996, the plans of the original ship were found in the Royal Navy archives in London: this was the start of its reconstruction, led by Michael Turk, under the name Grand Turk. In 2010, Étoile Marine Croisières bought it; it came to Saint-Malo, its new home port, and took the name Étoile du Roy. You visit the ship at the quayside to step into the world of 18th-century sailors, with no booking needed and tickets sold on deck. It also takes part in the great maritime festivals.
