About
The cabins on the water at Les Ormes are among the best-known unusual stays in Ille-et-Vilaine. The concept appeared on the estate in 2010, six years after the first treehouses. The floating cabins sit on the ponds of the Domaine des Ormes, a park of nearly 200 hectares. Some can move slightly thanks to their floats, poles and anchors, while staying linked to the shore by a safety system. The Cabane Dérive, the first of the range, sleeps two and offers a very intimate experience in the middle of the pond. The family models are larger: Naturé’O sleeps up to five in two bedrooms, while Contre-Courant has five beds in three bedrooms and a remarkable view of the château. The estate also offers other versions depending on the period, including Tourbillon. This is not a simple campsite: guests enjoy a huge resort with golf, horse riding, water sports, a tropical Dome, pools and many facilities. The cabins are designed around the experience: terraces, watching swans and birds, meal baskets hoisted up or delivered depending on the package, and a real break from a classic hotel night. Prices start at around €103 according to the tourist offers seen, but vary greatly by cabin, date and services.
