About
The Hôtel La Pérouse is at 3 allée Duquesne, on the cours des 50 Otages, right in the centre of Nantes. It is known above all for its architecture. The building was designed by the Nantes architects Barto + Barto and opened in 1993; it received the 20th-century Heritage label in 2011. Its white façade of Richemont stone, its sloping lines, horizontal openings and ship-inspired entrance gangway make it an instantly recognisable landmark of Nantes. Rated 4 stars, the hotel has 46 rooms. The decor constantly plays on Nantes’ maritime history and the explorer La Pérouse: anti-roll door handles, references to Jules Verne, the bow of the building and a cabin vocabulary create a very coherent identity. It is not just a city-centre hotel, but an architectural experience. Classic rooms measure about 22 m², with high-end bedding, a 160 cm queen-size bed or two singles on request, minibar, desk, free Wi-Fi, safe, TV, air conditioning, and a bathroom with shower or bath and CODAGE toiletries. Privilège rooms, about 25 m², are often in the corners of the building, brighter and in the spirit of the bow, with solid parquet, signature furniture and bathrobes. The Triple Privilège, also about 25 m², sleeps three. Accessible rooms are available on prior request, including at least one suitable for a wheelchair user. Breakfast is one of the hotel’s signature services: from 6 am to 12 noon, in the breakfast room or in your room at no extra charge, with organic juices, Beillevaire products, artisan bakery, granolas, jams, organic coffees and teas, and a gluten-free range. The ground-floor bar is open 24 hours a day, with spirits from small producers. There is no restaurant on site; the hotel works with nearby partners, including Le Sapio, about 200 metres away. The hotel has an environmental approach and the Clef Verte eco-label. There is no private parking (use the paid public car parks in the centre), no bike room, and bikes are not allowed in the rooms. Thanks to its central position, you do not need a car: trams are a few dozen metres away, and the place Royale, the passage Pommeraye, the Château des ducs de Bretagne, the Bouffay quarter and much of the Voyage à Nantes trail are within walking distance.
