Where to stay in Nantes: our hotels by district

Graslin, the castle, the station, the banks of the Loire: where to stay in Nantes, district by district, from the chapel turned hotel to the hidden five star in the centre.

7 min read

Nantes is best explored on foot and by tram, and most of its fine hotels are in the centre. The Graslin district for 18th century elegance, the castle and the Bouffay for the buzz, the station for arriving by train: here are our addresses, district by district.

Graslin and the centre

A stone’s throw from Place Graslin, the Oceania Hôtel de France occupies a former mansion, with 72 rooms that are all different and a rooftop terrace. Billie plays on the Roaring Twenties, and the independent Voltaire Opéra holds the Green Key label. The Mercure Passage Pommeraye occupies a 19th century building. And the five star Maison Maubreuil has only 13 rooms, each with its own world.

Around the castle

Facing the Château des ducs de Bretagne, the Hôtel du Château is a small address with 12 rooms. OKKO Hotels offers 80 rooms and a lounge open day and night, and accepts dogs at no extra charge. The Hôtel La Pérouse, in a building by Barto + Barto with the 20th Century Heritage label, is an architectural curiosity. The Radisson Blu is set in the former law courts.

Jardin des Plantes and the station

Facing the Jardin des Plantes, SŌZŌ is set in a 19th century chapel: 24 rooms and a unique atmosphere. Right next door, the Mercure Centre Gare has direct access to the station. Maisons du Monde Hôtel & Suites adds flats, handy for families.

By the water and on the edge of the city

On the banks of the Erdre, the Hôtel de La Régate offers free parking. The Novotel is on the banks of the Loire. And for real peace and quiet, the five star Château de Maubreuil is in Carquefou, and the Abbaye de Villeneuve, a former Cistercian abbey with a Michelin starred restaurant, in Les Sorinières.
