About
Starting from the church in Le Quiou, this walk follows a section of the old railway line turned greenway (no. 3, Saint-Malo to Rhuys) to discover the village’s heritage. The name “pays des Faluns” comes from the sea that covered Brittany in the Miocene, 15 million years ago. As it retreated, it left a shell deposit later used in building and farming. Less than 2 km from the trail, the Maison des Faluns, in Tréfumel, tells this geological story in a discovery centre for young and old. The loop is 4.4 km long, with 31 m of ascent; allow about 1 hour of walking. The stated level is easy. Start: the Notre-Dame church in Le Quiou. The official route, published by the Côtes-d’Armor département and updated on 11 September 2026, is shown on the map and can be downloaded as a GPX file to follow on your phone.
