About
At Raguénez, on the Névez coast, Ar Men Du enjoys a remarkable spot above the Atlantic. The sea, the islets, the wind and the garden frame a one-star gastronomic restaurant where the landscape flows straight into the cooking. It belongs to an intimate hotel, but the restaurant also welcomes guests who are not staying. People come for the beauty of the site as much as for high-level, personal cooking that respects its environment. Head of the kitchen since 2023, Jérôme Gourmelen knows the house inside out. Originally from the Pays Bigouden, he spent many years there before taking over the kitchen. His approach favours seasonal produce, locally caught fish and crustaceans, vegetables and herbs. The permaculture garden is a further source of inspiration, alongside nearby producers and market gardeners. Precise cooking and attention to texture keep the produce centre stage. The sustainable approach is more than talk. The house highlights work with small producers, seasonality, the garden’s resources and thought given to everyday practices. The aim is generous, lively gastronomy, in a bright dining room where the ocean views invite you to take your time. The gastronomic menus include tasting menus and à la carte options, depending on the calendar. Since October 2026, there are two different experiences at Ar Men Du. The gastronomic restaurant serves on Wednesday evening and from Thursday to Saturday, lunch and dinner, while the new Bistrot d’Ar Men Du is open, according to the announced hours, from Sunday to Tuesday. The two do not necessarily share menus, prices or pace, so specify which one you want when booking. After the meal, the landscapes of Raguénez, the Névez beaches and the coastal path are a natural extension of this seaside escape.
What you will see
- 1 Michelin star in 2026, for the gastronomic restaurant.
- Two separate offers: the gastronomic restaurant and the bistro. Check your choice carefully when booking.
- Cuisine and signature: the chef has led the kitchen since 2023, after a long career in the house, including in pastry. His cooking favours precision and coastal flavours, while keeping the link with the Finistère countryside.
- Environmental commitment: small-scale local fishing, market gardeners, a garden, fruit and herbs make up a sustainable approach.
- Claire’s permaculture garden plays a concrete part in the cooking, putting herbs and vegetables on a par with fish and meat.
- A view that is part of the meal: facing the rocks and islets of Raguénez, the bright dining room turns lunch or dinner into a real break.
