About

Escal’Atlantic, set in the Saint-Nazaire submarine base, recreates a full-size transatlantic liner, unique in Europe. Over 3,500 m², it brings back the atmosphere of the legendary liners built in Saint-Nazaire: the Île-de-France (1927), the Normandie (1935) and the France (1962). You choose your cabin, stroll along the promenade deck and plunge into the heat and noise of the engine room, before an eventful end to the voyage. The visit also tells the story of the millions of emigrants who travelled in the hold, and displays the lacquer panel “La Chasse” by Jean Dunand, which came from the Normandie. Younger visitors explore as the captain or a passenger. From 1 April to 1 November, a 1 h 30 guided tour takes place every day at 10.30 am, by reservation, included in the ticket. Saint-Nazaire also offers tours of the Chantiers de l’Atlantique, where the great liners are built.
