About
In the 17th century, the Château des Rochers became one of the places linked to Marie de Rabutin-Chantal, Marquise de Sévigné, through her marriage to Henri de Sévigné. She stayed here several times and wrote many letters here. The house mixes old features and successive alterations. The gardens, the chapel, the vistas and the spaces linked to the marquise give the site a literary dimension that goes beyond its architecture. Guided tours show part of the interiors and the family and literary background. The visit pairs particularly well with the museum in the Château de Vitré. The site closes every year from 1 October to March, so Les Rochers-Sévigné is currently closed to the public.
