About
The Château de Suscinio grew from the 13th century onwards on the Rhuys peninsula. A hunting and leisure residence of the Dukes of Brittany, it was enlarged until the 15th century and became a palatial complex protected by powerful defences. The main buildings, towers, curtain walls and moats have undergone major restoration. Excavations revealed, among other things, exceptional medieval floor tiles from a chapel on the estate. The tour inside uses projections, sets and immersive displays to tell the story of court life, the history of the duchy and the changes to the site. The grounds and marshes extend the visit. Suscinio is a site run by the Morbihan department, open for much of the year, with opening times that vary with the season. Check the official calendar before you travel.
