What to do in Morbihan during the All Saints’ holidays

The Carnac alignments open to walk among, the Gulf of Morbihan, castles, the wild coast and Lorient: our ideas for All Saints’ 2026 in Morbihan.

8 min read

The 2026 All Saints’ holidays run from Saturday 17 October to Monday 2 November, for all three zones at once. Morbihan is the mildest department in Brittany in autumn: the Gulf keeps its light, the islands empty, and the megaliths regain the silence they lose in summer.

Carnac open to walkers

From October to March, part of the Carnac alignments can be walked freely, among the menhirs, which is not possible in summer. More than three thousand standing stones line up over four kilometres: come in the late afternoon, when the low light lengthens their shadows. The Maison des Mégalithes tells you which plots are open.

Megaliths and heritage

The Gulf and its islands

The Gulf boats run less often after the summer, but they do run: the Île aux Moines and the Île d’Arz can be explored on foot or by bike in peace. From the Pointe de Kerpenhir or Port-Navalo, you can watch the Jument current pass through the mouth of the Gulf, one of the strongest in Europe.

Castles for Halloween

Suscinio, the residence of the Dukes of Brittany on the edge of the marshes, Josselin and its finely carved façades above the Oust, the fortress of Largoët in its forest: Morbihan has enough to fill a week’s holiday. Several castles offer mystery trails and costumed tours at All Saints’, with a programme that changes every year.

Lorient, the sea under cover

In bad weather, Lorient has two visits that fill the day: the Cité de la Voile Éric Tabarly, where you learn to helm on a simulator, and the Flore submarine, in the former Keroman submarine base. In Port-Louis, the Musée de la Compagnie des Indes occupies the citadel facing the harbour.

Visits in any weather

The wild coast on stormy days

On the Quiberon peninsula, the wild coast shows its full force in the autumn gales. Swimming is forbidden there all year round: watch it from the path, back from the rocks, especially at high tide.
