About
The former school of the Île Callot is one of the rarest places to stay in Brittany because of its location. Callot can only be reached by car or on foot when the tidal causeway is uncovered. At high tide, the island is cut off from Carantec and becomes truly isolated. The former school has been turned into a municipal eco gîte for up to ten people. Comfort is simple but complete: a fitted kitchen, a bright living room, three ground-floor bedrooms including one accessible to people with reduced mobility, two bathrooms and a dormitory upstairs. An east-facing terrace catches the first light. Once there, you just step outside to discover beaches, coves, paths, shore fishing and a bird reserve. The island has about ten beaches and coves and remains closely linked to oyster farming. For 2026, Tourisme Bretagne lists a rate from about €535 for four nights. The big spring tides make the experience even stronger, but require strict planning of crossing times. Here, the access constraint is exactly what makes the stay exceptional.
