About

The Hôtel de la Plage nestles in Sainte-Anne-la-Palud, in the municipality of Plonévez-Porzay, in a cove that opens straight onto the ocean. A simple low stone wall separates the house from the beach, a rare position in Brittany. Built in 1895, the hotel is now rated 4 stars and is a member of Relais & Châteaux. It has around twenty rooms and suites. The rooms look out either over the garden and its hydrangeas, or directly over the beach and the ocean. The main categories are Classic Garden, Superior Garden, Classic Sea View, Superior Sea View, Deluxe Sea View, Junior Suite Garden, Junior Suite Sea View and Prestige Suite Sea View. The Classic rooms are about 18 m² and the Superior rooms about 27 m². The Deluxe Sea View is about 34 m². The Junior Suite Garden is about 40 m², while the Junior Suite Sea View reaches about 49 m². The Prestige Suite Sea View is the top of the range, with about 60 m², a separate bedroom, a lounge with a panoramic view and room for up to four people thanks to a double sofa bed. It has two televisions, a bath, a walk-in shower, Nespresso, a minibar, bathrobes and Clarins products. The house welcomes couples and families alike. Relais & Châteaux mentions connecting rooms, family suites, a baby cot for a supplement, a high chair, a children’s menu, childcare and the option of an early dinner. The buffet breakfast is served facing the beach, or on the terrace when the weather allows. It favours organic or local produce: freshly squeezed juices, breads, pastries, homemade jams, organic cereals, homemade yoghurts, cheeses, cold meats, smoked salmon and seasonal fruit. The gourmet restaurant is one of the pillars of the house. Chef Yoann Noël cooks between land and sea, with fish, shellfish, crustaceans, meat and produce from regional farms. The large bay window and the terraces extend the meal straight towards the ocean. The published hours give lunch on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm, and dinner every day from 7.30 pm to 9 pm. In season, the terrace is open for lunch every day. Check the hours for the period of your stay. The Tevenn Bras Spa completes the experience, with a sauna, hammam, hot tub and massages. The relaxation area is free for hotel guests, with no booking or supplement, according to the current published conditions. The spa is open from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 7 pm for treatments, while the sauna, hammam and hot tub area is listed from 9 am to 7 pm. Massages must be booked in advance. The hotel also has a heated outdoor pool, a tennis court, a garden and a car park. An electric charging point is available. Pets are welcome for a supplement. Accessibility is well considered for a historic house: Relais & Châteaux reports a lift, and the main restaurant and common areas are accessible to people with reduced mobility. Check with the hotel whether a fully adapted room is available. The hotel is particularly well suited to long holidays: the beach at the foot of the house, the pool, tennis, spa, water sports, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, fishing and other outdoor activities are available on site or nearby. Its position between Douarnenez, Locronan, the Crozon peninsula and Quimper also makes it a good base for discovering south Finistère and the bay of Douarnenez. The positioning is clearly upmarket, but it remains a historic family house rather than an impersonal resort. The view, the table, the spa and direct access to the sand are the four pillars of the experience.

  • Book spa treatments early and check the access conditions: age, dress, booking and supplement.
  • Ask for a quiet room if you are sensitive to noise.
  • Check the tourist tax and any extras not included.
  • Book a sea view room if the panorama is your priority: the garden categories offer a different experience.
  • The Classic rooms are about 18 m²; for several nights, a Superior or a Junior Suite gives much more space. The 60 m² Prestige Suite Sea View suits families wanting a lot of room.

  • The beach is right there, but check the tides and the weather before water sports.
