About
Le Royal stands at 6 avenue Pierre Loti, facing the Atlantic in the heart of La Baule. This 5-star Barrière hotel is strongly focused on wellness thanks to its direct link to ORA The Longevity Bay, a longevity and treatment centre that extends the hotel experience with programmes around seawater, movement, recovery and prevention. The official website lists 87 rooms and suites. Their decor, by Chantal Peyrat, is inspired by the Guérande salt marshes, combining beiges, blues, light effects and references to salt. Views alternate between the town, La Baule’s villas and the ocean, from the Superior Room to the Royal Suite. The Superior Room is about 20 m² and looks towards the town and villas. The Deluxe Room is about 23 m². On the sea side, Superior Sea and Deluxe Sea rooms are around 20 m², while the Prestige Sea Room offers about 22 m². Rooms have air conditioning, a minibar, a coffee or tea machine and Guerlain toiletries, depending on the category. Suites offer much more space. The Junior Suite is about 30 m² with a balcony and a sitting area. The Sea Junior Suite and Prestige Sea Junior Suite reach about 40 m². The Deluxe Sea Suite is 55 m² with two bathrooms and a separate lounge, while the Prestige Sea Suite reaches 70 m². The most spectacular categories focus on outdoor space. The Prestige Sea Terrace Suite offers about 60 m² and a 90 m² terrace. The Royal Suite is 75 m², with a 140 m² terrace, a lounge with sofa bed and a bathroom with a whirlpool bath; it can connect to a Junior Suite to form a unit of about 115 m². The hotel also offers many connecting combinations for families, with total areas of more than 50 m² depending on the combination. Wellness is at the heart of the hotel. ORA The Longevity Bay is directly linked to it. Guests also have a large heated indoor seawater pool, currently open every day from 8.15 am to 9 pm, and an outdoor pool open from April to September, 9 am to 9 pm. Dining includes La Brasserie du Royal, serving French classics, Breton specialities and wellness or gluten-free options, and Le Ponton, a more relaxed beach restaurant facing the sea. Le Bar du Royal completes the offer with an English club atmosphere, a piano and a terrace open onto the Atlantic. In summer, the bar is open Sunday to Thursday from 10.30 am to 11.30 pm and until midnight on Friday and Saturday; in winter, it closes at 11 pm Sunday to Thursday and at midnight on Friday and Saturday. Room service is available 24 hours a day. Valet parking is announced as free for hotel guests. Paid parking, charging points, a concierge, luggage service, transfers and laundry are also among the official services. Families are particularly well looked after. The official FAQ mentions clubs for babies and children aged 10 weeks to 17 years, depending on age and period. Baby cots and extra beds are available on request, free up to age 12 under the current policy; over 12, a supplement of €80 is announced. Pets are allowed for a supplement of €50 per animal. Dogs must be kept on a lead in public areas and are not allowed in all restaurants, bars, the spa, the fitness centre or the kids’ clubs, except assistance dogs. Pets must not be left unattended when housekeeping is due. Access to the pools, the gym and the kids’ clubs (depending on age) is announced as included. ORA treatments, transfers, laundry and some sports such as golf, tennis or horse riding are extra. Le Royal is especially suited to wellness stays, couples, families looking for a high level of service and travellers who want to combine the beach with health or recovery programmes. La Baule, Le Pouliguen, Guérande and the salt marshes easily complete a stay of several nights.
