About
The big Quimper market is held all year round on Saturdays, along the Steïr and around the Saint-François covered market. It takes up Rue Saint-François and Rue Astor, Place Terre-au-Duc, Boulevard du Moulin-au-Duc and the Parc de la Glacière. Around a hundred traders gather in a green setting by the river. The streets are closed to traffic: you shop in peace. The food market runs from 8 am to 1.30 pm. The manufactured goods stay later: until 7 pm from April to September, until 6 pm from October to March. Quimper has always been a market town: potatoes were once sold on Place Saint-Mathieu, milk on Place Médard, flowers on Rue Astor and butter on Place au Beurre. After the market, you can visit the Musée Bigouden in Pont-l’Abbé, about 18 minutes by car (19 km), and Locronan, about 22 minutes by car (19 km).
