Every Thursday, from 8 am to 1 pm, the Ancenis market sets up in the historic centre: Place Maréchal-Foch, the Halle des Vinaigriers and Place Saint-Pierre. Historically one of the biggest markets in the département, it now hosts nearly 80 traders: fishmongers, food trades, French, foreign and exotic food, bakers, as well as textiles and craft makers. You even come across some rather forgotten trades, such as chair caning. On Tuesdays, from 4 pm to 7 pm, a local producers’ market is also held on the Esplanade du Gotha. After the market, you can visit Oudon, about 12 minutes by car (9.6 km).

Tips on the spot
- On Tuesdays from 4 pm to 7 pm, a local producers’ market is held on the Esplanade du Gotha.
- On Saturday mornings, a smaller market sets up opposite the castle.
- Another day: about 400 m away, the Saturday market in Ancenis is held on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm; about 13 minutes by car, the Oudon market is held on Sundays from 9 am to 1 pm.
- For a walk afterwards: “Balade en Campagne Autour du Moulin de la Challoire À St Herblon”, a 7.8 km easy loop, starts from Vair-sur-Loire., about 14 minutes by car (11 km).
