About
Every Monday, from 8.30 am to 1 pm, Pontivy’s historic market brings together around sixty traders on La Plaine, Place Aristide-Briand. Pontivy’s markets probably go back to the Middle Ages. Each square then had its role: vegetables and butter on Place du Martray, pigs on Place Ernest-Jan. By the middle of the 20th century, only the Martray market remained, and it moved to La Plaine in 1980. Pontivy is the leading market town of central Brittany. After the market, the town centre, its medieval streets and its Château des Rohan are a few minutes’ walk away.
