About
The Vannes fish hall is entirely devoted to seafood. It is open all year round on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from 8 am to 1 pm, on Place de la Poissonnerie, in the town centre. The hall was built at the end of the Middle Ages. Around twenty regular traders sell fish, shellfish and crustaceans caught off the Breton coast, depending on the season and the catch: scallops, winkles, spider crabs, sea bass, sea bream. It is also the place to taste oysters from the Gulf of Morbihan, alongside those from Carnac, the Étel estuary or Quiberon Bay. After the market, you can visit Vannes Intra-Muros, about 500 m away, and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Vannes, La Cohue, about 1 km away.
