About
The Grande Plage of Port-Louis, also called Les Pâtis beach, is one of the most unusual beaches around Lorient. It lies right at the foot of the citadel, whose ramparts partly shelter the beach from the wind depending on its direction. The famous white beach huts, unique in the area, can be rented in summer by the day, week or month. Bars and restaurants set up their terraces right on the sand, making it a very easy beach with children. A few metres away are a merry-go-round, an ice-cream seller, a playground, a skate park, a multi-sports pitch and the citadel’s two museums. The beach is lifeguarded in July and August and wheelchair accessible, with Hippocampe beach wheelchairs. In 2026, the official monitoring of Les Pâtis ran from 15 June to 15 September and confirmed a lifeguarded, equipped site, closed to animals, with showers, drinking water, toilets, a first-aid post and wheelchair access. Its recent record is excellent.
