About
Herlin is one of the great fine sandy beaches of Bangor, on the wild coast of Belle-Île-en-Mer. It lies in a deep ria framed by high cliffs and opens to the west winds. At high tide, a central rocky outcrop almost divides the beach in two. Herlin is known as a family beach, with rollers that often allow beginners to try bodyboarding. But it is not harmless: currents on the sides can create eddies, holes and powerful water movements. In July and August, swimming is lifeguarded from 1 pm to 7 pm. The official 2025 water rating was excellent. The site is one of the sensitive natural areas managed by the Department. In Bangor, from 1 May to 30 September, dogs may go on the beaches before 2 pm and after 7 pm.
