About

Starting from the sports ground in Saint-Aubin-du-Pavail, a grassy path follows a quiet stream, then heads off through the hedged farmland. At Les Marais you take the salt traders’ path, used by these salt merchants to avoid the gabelle, the royal tax on salt. The route then reaches the village centre, its quiet streets and its church, crosses a few hamlets along sunken lanes and returns past the pond. The route is 5.8 km long; allow about 1 h 25 of walking. Start: the sports ground, rue de la Mairie, in Saint-Aubin-du-Pavail.
