About
In the heart of the ria d’Étel, Belz surprises with the wealth of its natural, built and megalithic heritage. This trail, “between land and sea” in Breton, puts Saint-Cado, the ria and the megaliths in the spotlight. The coastal path leads to the Pointe du Perche, at Kerhuen, with its viewpoint indicator and its birds. In the hamlet of Kerhuen, the dolmens at the top of the mound were restored in 1932 by Zacharie Le Rouzic, as was the Moulin des Oies dolmen a year earlier. You then walk around the island of Saint-Cado, linked to the mainland by a stone bridge: facing the Nichtarguer house with its blue shutters (1894), the island has a Romanesque chapel from the 11th and 12th centuries, a calvary from 1832 and fishermen’s houses. In the early 20th century it was the largest sardine port on the ria. The way back passes the Kerlutu dolmen. The loop is 11 km long; allow about 2 h 45 of walking. The stated level is easy. Start: the stadium car park, rue des Sports, in Belz. The waymarking is yellow. The official route, published by Auray Quiberon Terre Atlantique, is shown on the map and can be downloaded as a GPX file to follow on your phone.
