About
Malguénac is a land of heath and woods that has kept its authentic landscapes. Many remains have been found here, from the Neolithic to the Iron Age, and the commune was a Chouan hideout during the Revolution. The trail crosses the Bois du Sence, planted to protect a water catchment, then the village of Bauzo and its old houses, including a farmhouse from 1607. Tucked away in the woods on a hillside, the Saint-Patern chapel, dedicated to the first bishop of Vannes, has a timber roof whose oldest part dates back to 1500. In the Kerizouët woods you glimpse an early medieval monolithic cross, before the outbuildings of the Château de Moustoir Lann. The loop is 13 km long; allow about 3 h 15 of walking. The stated level is moderate. Start: the multipurpose hall car park, in Malguénac. The waymarking bears the number 27. The official route, published by Pontivy Communauté, is shown on the map and can be downloaded as a GPX file to follow on your phone. The route is listed in the département’s official walking route plan (PDIPR).
