About
Malguénac is thought to come from “Mal Quenac’h”, the big hill, because of its terrain. Several spots offer fine panoramas over the wooded countryside. The route passes through the Lesturgant estate, whose manor is recorded as early as 1448: the present château, from 1844, includes a tower of the old manor and a dovecote from 1697 with 600 nesting holes, listed as a historic monument. Near Botcouric stand two monolithic crosses. You then follow the old Roman road known as the “royal” road, 2.5 very well preserved km of a route linking Vannes to Carhaix, before Le Roc’h and the lands of Moustoir Lann. The loop is 14.5 km long; allow about 3 h 40 of walking. The stated level is moderate. Start: the multipurpose hall car park, in Malguénac. The waymarking bears the number 28. The official route, published by Pontivy Communauté, is shown on the map and can be downloaded as a GPX file to follow on your phone. The route is listed in the département’s official walking route plan (PDIPR).
