Route du Rhum 2026 in Saint-Malo: the guide
Village from 20 October to 1 November, start on 1 November at 1:02pm, where to see the boats, park and stay: the guide to the Route du Rhum 2026 in Saint-Malo.
5 min read
Every four years, the Route du Rhum leaves Saint-Malo for Guadeloupe. In 2026, for the thirteenth edition, more than a hundred solo sailors will take the start, from the huge Ultim trimarans to small amateur yachts.
Key dates
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| Tuesday 20 October | The village opens, free, along the docks |
| Friday 30 October | The Ultims leave the docks |
| Saturday 31 October | The IMOCAs leave the docks |
| Sunday 1 November, 1:02pm | The start, off the Pointe du Grouin |
The boats leave the docks depending on the tide and the weather: the organisers confirm the times a few days beforehand.
The village and the pontoons
The village stretches along the Vauban and Duguay-Trouin docks, at the foot of the ramparts. You can see the boats up close, meet the skippers, and in the evening the floodlit ramparts make a beautiful backdrop. Come on a weekday if you can: at weekends the crowds are huge.
Where to watch the start
The start takes place at sea, off Saint-Malo, between Cap Fréhel and the Pointe du Grouin. In 2026, access to the coast is controlled: the Pointe du Meinga is closed to the public, and the sites between the Pointe du Grouin and Cap Fréhel are subject to restrictions. The Parc du Nicet in Saint-Malo has been set up to welcome the public, and giant screens are installed at the village, in Dinard, Dinan and Cancale. Come on foot or by bike: the roads are closed or jammed as the start approaches.
