Where to stay in Saint-Malo: our hotels by district

The walled city, the Sillon, Rochebonne, the station: where to stay in Saint-Malo, district by district, from the seafront palace to the small hotel hidden behind the ramparts.

Saint-Malo is one of the towns in Brittany with the widest choice of places to stay. It all depends on what you are looking for: the atmosphere of the lanes behind the ramparts, the sea at the foot of your room on the Sillon, or the convenience of a hotel near the station. Here are our addresses, district by district.

The walled city, behind the ramparts

Staying inside the walls means walking on the ramparts in the evening once the visitors have gone. Le Grand Bé, with 55 rooms, is one of the most comfortable, two minutes from the beach. La Maison des Armateurs offers 45 rooms and a garage to book in advance. More intimate, the Hôtel Elizabeth occupies a house from 1600, Le Nautilus a 17th century building renovated in 2025, and the Hôtel des Abers a 16th century building. Le Croiseur Ginette, with two stars, is the most affordable address.

The Sillon, facing the great beach

Along the sea wall, the hotels have their feet in the sand. The five star Grand Hôtel des Thermes is linked to the thalassotherapy centre. Le Nouveau Monde has a spa and a pool. Le Beaufort and Les Charmettes, set in old villas, have direct access to the beach, as does Le Jersey, where 12 of the 18 rooms look out to sea. Set back a little, the Grand Hôtel de Courtoisville has a spa and a pool at 30 °C.

The Sillon

Rochebonne and Paramé, quieter

Further east, Rochebonne beach is more family oriented. La Villefromoy, a 26 room boutique hotel, has a garden and an enclosed car park. La Rotonde, 50 metres from the beach, offers rooms for up to six people at low prices.

Near the station, and in the countryside

Arriving by train, the Mercure Balmoral, Ker Annick or La Marinière save you crossing town with your luggage. In Saint-Servan, the Hôtel Ar Terra Nova is 500 metres from the Bas-Sablons beach. And for charm, two malouinières, the former homes of shipowners, have become hotels: the Château Hôtel du Colombier and Le Valmarin, each in its own park.
