What to do in Dinard: the complete guide

Belle Époque villas, the Promenade du Clair de Lune, the Écluse beach, the Pointe du Moulinet, the film festival and Saint-Malo by boat: what to do in Dinard.

6 min read

An elegant resort on the Emerald Coast, Dinard was launched in the 19th century by wealthy English and American families. Hundreds of villas remain, along with an elegance that never fades.

The Promenade du Clair de Lune

It follows the Rance from the harbour to the Prieuré beach, between flower gardens and views of Saint-Malo. The path continues to the Pointe du Moulinet, from where you can see the ramparts of Saint-Malo across the water.

The Belle Époque villas

Nearly four hundred villas are protected. The finest line the Pointe de la Malouine and the coast between L’Écluse and Saint-Énogat. The tourist office offers guided tours to discover their history.

The film festival, in October

Every autumn, the British and Irish film festival fills the cinemas. The statue of Alfred Hitchcock, on the Écluse beach, is its symbol.

Around Dinard

The boat crosses the estuary to Saint-Malo in about ten minutes. To the west, Saint-Lunaire and the Pointe du Décollé, then Saint-Briac and its beaches, are a few minutes away. The Rance tidal power station, in La Richardais, can be visited.
