About
The Grande Plage is the largest of Carnac’s five beaches. It stretches about two kilometres of fine white sand, facing due south between the Yacht Club area and the Pointe Churchill. In summer, swimming is lifeguarded and two beach clubs set up on the sand. The Carnac Yacht Club, at the west end of the beach, offers catamarans, dinghies, windsurfing, kayaking and other board sports all year round. The beach is particularly well equipped for disabled visitors: adapted equipment, trained staff to help with swimming, adapted changing room, shower and toilets, a Hippocampe beach wheelchair and a Tiralo. The welcome point is usually open in high season, with central lifeguard cover in summer. The Grande Plage has held the Blue Flag since 2015 according to Morbihan Tourisme, and its 2026 water quality is rated excellent. Dogs are not allowed on Carnac’s beaches under current regulations.
