About
The Grande Plage in Damgan is one of the great seaside classics of southern Morbihan. The tourist office describes it as nearly 4 km long and facing due south, with the town centre right next to it. The lifeguarded sandy zone is about 1,800 m long and 300 m wide, and can welcome 8,000 to 10,000 people on the busiest days. The beach has three public toilets, a first-aid post at the eastern end, benches and bins, and a wide range of activities: walking, sailing, water sports, shore fishing and volleyball. It is wheelchair accessible, with a seasonal boardwalk and a Hippocampe chair available from the SNSM lifeguards. In 2026, water monitoring ran from 15 June to 15 September and confirmed a lifeguarded, equipped and wheelchair-accessible site with toilets and a first-aid post. Recent water quality has been excellent.
