About
Halfway between Mûr-de-Bretagne and Pontivy, Neulliac lies along a stretch of the Blavet that has no longer been navigable since the Guerlédan dam was built. Today the towpath makes a lovely walk. From the Perzo lane you can see the Quénécan forest in the distance. The Perzo calvary dates from 1717 and bears the lozenges of the Rohan family. The Saint-Samson chapel is said to have been built in the 17th century at the initiative of a young woman from the village. At the Boloré lock you learn the story of the canalised Blavet, created at Napoleon’s initiative, whose navigation was cut off by the dam in 1929. The Tresclé dyke leads to the lock keeper’s house, before the Saint-Mélar spring and its wash house. The loop is 14 km long; allow about 3 h 30 of walking. The stated level is moderate. Start: rue du Stade or the Boloré lock, in Neulliac. The official route, published by Pontivy Communauté, is shown on the map and can be downloaded as a GPX file to follow on your phone. The route is listed in the département’s official walking route plan (PDIPR).
