About
Sainte-Barbe is one of the great ocean beaches of Plouharnel. It stretches in front of a vast dune system in a very open landscape, directly exposed to the Atlantic. The tourist office presents it as a fine sandy beach ideal for surfing, paddleboarding, walking and cycling. Its great width and length keep a feeling of space even in high season. The car park’s occupancy is monitored, which helps anticipate summer crowds. Sainte-Barbe is also close to the village of the same name, its chapel and the cycle routes towards Quiberon and Erdeven. In 2026, official water monitoring described Plouharnel’s ocean beaches as equipped but not lifeguarded, with no showers, no drinking water, no wheelchair access and no first-aid post. Animals are banned from the listed swimming sites during the monitoring season.
