About
River and religious heritage, woodland and the bends of the Aulne: this walk in Saint-Coulitz, near Châteaulin, is fairly easy and very varied. Via the Guivin crossroads and the Troboa calvary cross, you reach the Saint-Laurent chapel, also known as Troboa chapel. Close by, its spring is remarkable: built of local slates fitted together without mortar. A sunken lane then heads down through the woods to the far bank path of the Nantes to Brest canal, which you follow for 4.3 km along the Aulne, past the Prat Hir and Toul ar Rodo locks, before climbing back to the village and its church. The loop is 9.8 km long; allow about 2 h 25 of walking. Start: the town hall car park in Saint-Coulitz. The official route, published by the Pleyben-Châteaulin-Porzay community of communes, is shown on the map and can be downloaded as a GPX file to follow on your phone.
