About
This picturesque route follows the far bank path of the Aulne, lined with locks and lock keepers’ houses. It sets off from the church in Lothey, built between 1895 and 1901, with a fine pietà in its churchyard. You reach the Pennarpont lock (no. 232), from 1828, then the Guillec (no. 231) and Tréziguidy (no. 230) locks: Tréziguidy was a powerful barony that covered 27 villages. A woodland path leads back to Vieux-Bourg, the heart of the commune until 1846, with its early 17th century Saint-They church and a granite cross. Towards Kermadec you can see the Saint-Fiacre spring and a wash house. The loop is 11.3 km long; allow about 2 h 50 of walking. Start: the church car park, in the centre of Lothey. The official route, published by the Pleyben-Châteaulin-Porzay community of communes, is shown on the map and can be downloaded as a GPX file to follow on your phone.
