About
Silfiac and Sainte-Brigitte were shaped by the Rohan family and by a major ironworking industry, based on iron ore, water and the forest. The 17th and 18th century church in Sainte-Brigitte has a rich altarpiece and an altar dedicated to Saint Eligius, patron saint of blacksmiths. King Salomon’s road, named after the king of the Bretons from 857 to 874, wide and straight, marks the boundary between the Côtes-d’Armor and the Morbihan. You pass near the four Silfiac wind turbines, in service since 2006, then the spring below the village and an impressive sunken lane near Le Fouillé. The loop is 16 km long; allow about 4 hours of walking. The stated level is moderate. Start: the church in Sainte-Brigitte or the multipurpose hall in Silfiac. The official route, published by Pontivy Communauté, is shown on the map and can be downloaded as a GPX file to follow on your phone. The route is listed in the département’s official walking route plan (PDIPR).
