About
On the shores of Lake Guerlédan, the Kériven wood and the village of the same name still bear the marks of slate quarrying. The working of the “blue stone” began at the end of the 17th century and peaked in the 19th century. Every day, the quarrymen went down into the wood where the mines were. The trail invites you to discover this heritage by walking in the footsteps of these slate workers, nicknamed the “gueules bleues” here. An interpretation booklet, downloadable from the Département’s website, guides the visit in 9 stages. The loop is 2 km long, with 66 m of ascent; allow about 1 hour of walking. The stated level is medium. Start: the wash house car park, in Caurel. The waymarking shows a bat. The official route, published by the Côtes-d’Armor département and updated on 11 September 2026, is shown on the map and can be downloaded as a GPX file to follow on your phone.
