What to do in Quiberon: the complete guide

The wild coast, Port-Maria and the boats to Belle-Île, the beaches, the canneries and salted butter caramel: what to do in Quiberon, at the very tip of its peninsula.

6 min read

Quiberon sits at the tip of its peninsula: to the west the wild coast, pounded by the ocean, to the east the bay, calm and ideal for swimming. And at the harbour, the boats for the islands.

The wild coast

Cliffs, arches and coves follow one another for about ten kilometres. The coastal path runs alongside, and a road lets you stop at the best viewpoints. Do not swim there: the currents are dangerous, and swimming is forbidden.

The beaches of the bay

The Grande Plage, right in the centre, is the liveliest. Port-Maria and Le Conguel, towards the point, are sheltered from the west wind.

Port-Maria and the islands

Boats for Belle-Île, Houat and Hoëdic leave from Port-Maria. Belle-Île is less than an hour’s crossing away: a day trip is possible, hiring a bike or a car on the island.

The treats of Quiberon

The La Belle-Iloise cannery was born here, and several shops still sell tinned sardines and tuna. Henri Le Roux’s salted butter caramel is the town’s other speciality.
