What to do in Vannes during the All Saints’ holidays
The Vive la Magie festival, the funfair, Halloween at Branféré, Suscinio, the Gulf and Carnac open to walkers: our ideas for All Saints’ 2026 in Vannes.
7 min read
The 2026 All Saints’ holidays run from Saturday 17 October to Monday 2 November, for all three zones at once. Vannes is the gateway to the Gulf of Morbihan, and the town itself deserves a day: ramparts, half timbered houses and a harbour at the end of the old town.

The old town and its ramparts
From the Promenade de la Garenne, the ramparts overlook formal gardens and the old wash houses by the water. Inside the walls, the Place Henri-IV and the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre keep the look of the ducal capital. The Musée des Beaux-Arts occupies the former market halls of La Cohue.

The big Wednesday and Saturday morning market spreads through the old town, and the fish hall welcomes the fishermen of the Gulf: oysters, shellfish and the night’s catch.
The Gulf of Morbihan
Boats for the Île d’Arz leave from Conleau, in Vannes itself, and those for the Île aux Moines from Port-Blanc, in Baden; sailings are reduced out of season, so check the return times. Gulf cruises leave from the port of Vannes, and from the Pointe d’Arradon you can also discover the Gulf without a boat.

The Château de Suscinio, residence of the Dukes of Brittany on the edge of the Sarzeau marshes, often runs activities during the holidays. In Carnac, part of the alignments can be walked freely from October to March, among the menhirs.
